When I was a child I would often visit my friends' homes. It seemed there was always a day when their parents would tell them to clean their room before the maid arrives. This struck me as odd. To this day I still don't understand why people tidy before their cleaner arrives, and I'm discovering that this is not an uncommon phenomenon.
